Check admission requirements

Every program website lists admission requirements. Early in the planning process, make note of admission requirements for your top-choice programs. Consider the following:

1. Categories of admission

Each category lists the high school subjects or post-secondary equivalents you need to complete and the minimum grades you need to achieve to be considered for admission to the program. Take note if your program of choice is considered competitive—which means you may need to achieve a higher admission average or complete additional admission criteria.

International students must qualify for admission under the regular or previous post-secondary categories for any program. The mature admission category is open only to Canadian applicants.

2. Additional admission criteria

In addition to academic criteria, some programs have program-specific admission requirements such as resumés, references, letters of intent, security checks, portfolios or auditions. Other programs require certain kinds of volunteer work or work experience, which you will need to start well before you apply. You may need to meet a certain level of English language proficiency or make arrangements to take a language proficiency test. If your program of choice has additional admission criteria, it will be listed under admission requirements on the program’s website.

Check deadlines and apply early

Check deadlines

The application deadline for programs at MacEwan University is based on when you want to start your studies (the intake term). Check admission dates and deadlines to learn when you can start (fall, winter or spring/summer intake) and the last possible date to apply. If you apply after a deadline has passed, your application fee is not refunded. ADMISSION DATES & DEADLINES
